23 year old Laser/ILCA sailor George Gautrey from New Zealand is in Barcelona, Spain for the 2021 ILCA Standard Men’s World Championship ready to take on the fleet of 139 sailors from 44 nations.
After claiming the bronze medal at the worlds in 2019, and then 29th in the 2020 event in Melbourne, George is super focused on claiming the gold in this event as he campaigns for the Laser spot in the NZL Sailing Team for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
George chats about the competition he’s up against, race tactics, what he eats for breakfast, and the shit storm that he encounter at his AirB&B.
